In collaboration with UNC Charlotte Department of Art, Dance, Music, Theatre, and Architecture, the UNC Charlotte Military & Veteran Services Department invites you to join us for a free documentary screening of “We Lift Each Other”.
“We Lift Each Other” is a film that follows Black Box Dance Theatre and a group of veterans over the course of one remarkable week: from their first meeting to their courageous participation in a fully produced public performance of original choreography. In that short time, they move from uncertainty to trust, from isolation to connection, and ultimately into the creation of powerful art that reflects their lived experiences.
The film is part of a documentary anthology series, I Feel Myself to Be Part of Something, produced by Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Mara Isaacs (Hadestown).
No ticketing required. This event is free and open to the public.
Support for this screening is made in part from William C. Friday Fellowship: *The William C. Friday Fellowship for Human Relations believes that connections forged across lines of difference have the capacity to transform lives and communities across the state. A leadership development opportunity for North Carolinians, the Friday Fellowship transforms communities by improving human relations and centering relationship building. Friday Fellows are encouraged to lead with courage, speak their truth, engage differences with civility, collaborate to solve problems, and embrace equity and justice.
