We Lift Each Other Presented By: Arts Impact Collaborative
In celebration of Veterans Day, Arts Impact Collaborative is proud to present the Community First premiere screening of We Lift Each Other, a documentary film featuring the North Carolina-based modern dance company Black Box Dance Theatre and their work with Asheville veterans in the summer of 2023, which culminated in a moving public performance at the Wortham Center.

August Community Drop-In Class
Join Mindy Demchak for this “good old-fashioned sweaty modern class”. This is the first community class of our monthly series where BBDT dancers share their expertise as we invite dancers from across the Triangle to join us in movement, training, and community.

United Arts Wake County 2025 Artists in Schools Expo
Interested in booking Black Box Dance Theatre to perform at your school with support from United Arts Wake County? This annual Artists in Schools Expo brings together artists and community members who schedule cultural arts programming, bringing the booking right to you! The Expo is an annual trade-style event that features approximately 80 Artists in Schools artists, including Black Box Dance Theatre.

PATRIOT'S PATH: The Theseus Legacy Encore Performance
Part history, part personal reflection, and all profoundly human, this evening of high art invites audiences to witness the intersection of myth and memory in an immersive, heartfelt exploration of what it means to serve, struggle, and return home.

ECHOES & INNOVATIONS: An Evening of Company Repertory
Join Black Box Dance Theatre for an evening of performance that demonstrates all facets of our work in the world. This program will include repertory from BBDT's in-school performances, work with veterans, creative repertory, and a premiere of BBDT's Kate Gupton's new work set on our extended professional company.

Marbles Kids Museum Performance
Black Box Dance Theatre is proud to provide free community performances designed to expose children to modern dance styles. This event was produced in collaboration with Marbles Kids Museum of Raleigh, NC to bring live performance and storytelling to local youth, as well as involve audiences with participation opportunities.

BBDT Winter Intensive 2024
Join Black Box Dance Theatre for our very first Winter Intensive from December 27-29, 2024. Learn and collaborate with founder and Artistic Director, Michelle Pearson, alongside company artists: Natalie Morton, Slim Parker, Steven James Rodríguez Velez, Payton Chopp, Kate Gupton, Alfredo Hurtado, and Marsha Thomas. This 3-day intensive is designed for pre-professionals, professional dancers, as well as K-12 and university dance educators where we will grow in company classes, skill building workshops, and professional development seminars.
