Meet our Board Members who work behind the scenes to support Black Box Dance Theatre


Jessica Pope- Chair

Jessica Pope was born and raised in Raleigh, NC and has a passion for marketing, dancing, and human connections. She grew up dancing at Arts Together where she was a member of Rainbow Dance Company from the age of 10 until she attended ECU to get her Bachelor's Degree in Communications and a minor in Business Administration. Jessica currently works at Cisco Systems as a part of their Customer Experience organization and still enjoys dancing with Michelle Pearson at Arts Together.

Roy Huntley-Treasurer

Roy Huntley currently serves as treasurer on the board of Black Box Dance Theatre. He is also a past president of the board of Even Exchange Dance Theater. Roy is a veteran (US Navy) and a retired environmental engineer from the US EPA.


Diana Hurtado

Diana Hurtado, M.Ed., is a U.S. Army veteran and Military Relations Manager at Western Governors University (WGU), dedicated to supporting military-affiliated students, including service members, veterans, and their families.

A military spouse to a disabled combat veteran, Hurtado fosters partnerships with military organizations, advocates for military learners, and connects students with resources to meet their unique needs. With a background in teaching and consulting, including roles in Wake and Durham Counties and Duke University Health System, she ensures military students access flexible, career-aligned education at WGU.

Tyrique Gaines

Tyrique Gaines is a former All-Source Intelligence Analyst in the U.S. Army with a strong background in strategic analysis and problem-solving. Originally from Fayetteville, NC, he earned his MBA in Innovation Management and Marketing from NC State University. Currently, Tyrique serves as a Product Manager at OneMain Financial, where he focuses on developing customer-centric solutions and driving business growth. His diverse experience in intelligence, innovation, and financial services enables him to bring a unique perspective to the board.
